This is a simplified version with the same spacing.

Same sequence, looped.

The next time we do this, I want to focus more on just getting the gesture of each phase and use more directional lines.

INCREMENTAL SAMPLE #1

This a series of simple cylinder drawings moving through space in one way or the other. I was having a hard time drawing things incrementally that looked good, because I was using difficult subject matter to start off with. So I picked this simple shape and did these drawings just so that I could quickly get an idea of how drawing in moving increments is approached. It's a really simple study, but it was a good introduction to drawing this way, and it gave me the feel of how approach more difficult subjects a little easier.

Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis from Michael Kearns on Vimeo.

For this project I broke it down into 3 parts; the movement through space, the fading out of the colors, and the metamorphosis. When it came down to the morphing, I just started out moving all the lines and shapes into the middle of the card, changing them along the way. As I was doing this, I made decision to turn the landscape into a face because of where the lines were ending up. It was a lot of work, but the results made it worth it. And from doing this I have a number of new things that I am going to keep in mind and pay more attention to when working on future projects. Such as; the consistency of my spacing, perspective issues, and time management's effect on the assignment.
